Token completed her championship with a BOB win over a special and four majors (three FSSA-supported entries, including the 2005 national specialty weekend with a HUGE Best Of Winners & Best Bred By, followed by a group 4 in BBE group!) I started her agility training initally hoping to help her gain confidence since I originally intended for her to be a competition obedience dog. Since I didn't know any better, we enrolled in a local agility training facility where "it's all about speed, forget about control" so we never got a firm grasp of the basics and fundamentals. As a result we have slowly bungled our way through our AKC titles in spite of ourselves. If not for me, Token would certainly have a MACH or two by now. We're continuing on in our quest for agility titles, although a MACH is certainly not on our radar! Token was the first Field Spaniel to be awarded NF, NFP and OFP agility titles! Carla Bunkelman talked me into trying for Token's RN. When I completed that I said "there is no way we are going for our RA!" Well, never say never, because once she earned her first Q at the 2009 national I HAD to complete the title, which she did with three straight Qs in a row!
Token was inducted into the FSSA Hall Of Fame in 2010. On a whim, I decided to enter her in the 2010 FSSA national specialty in Loveland CO, after a several year absence from the show ring. I was pleased with her winning Best Opposite in Veteran Sweepstakes. To say I was flabbergasted with her winning Best Veteran *and* a Judge's Award Of Merit would be an understatement. There were only two AOMs awarded, so she had a lot of competition!
Token certainly personifies the breed's multitasking abilities! I'm not sure what life would be like without her ruling the household :)
